Coaching & Improving Your Game
New to Bowls?
Lawn bowls is one of the most accessible sports you can take up — you don't need to be young or particularly fit, and the basics can be learned in an afternoon. At BHBC, we make sure every new member gets the support they need to enjoy the game.
Following one of our open days, we run a short series of beginner sessions on Thursday evenings to get you started. You'll learn the fundamentals — delivery, weight control, reading the green — with patient guidance from our qualified coaches. All equipment is provided; just wear flat-soled shoes or trainers.

Already playing but want to develop your game? Our coaches are available during the season for informal one-to-one guidance. We also run Turn Up and Bowl sessions on Monday afternoons and Friday evenings — relaxed, unselected practice games where you can work on specific aspects of your game.
For those wanting to progress to league or competitive bowls, the club's captains are always happy to discuss opportunities and help you get selected for your first match.
